Most African Countries are now hitting a 10% penetration rate.  In fact the rate of growth is so rapid that this page always get outdated within a few days.  South Africa tops the list in the number of cell phones.  MTN of South Africa is rapidly expanding to other African Countries as well as into the Arab world.  MTN recently acquired Investcom of Dubai for over $5 billion. This shows how powerful African cell phone companies are becoming.
